Welcome to the 34th annual golf tournament at Woodloch Springs! We were the first golf tournament at the Springs and have continued uninterrupted for the last 34 years. Our first tournament was held before the car pass had even cooled down. It’s been a pleasure to be affiliated with this tournament for so many years. We have endured all types of weather from rain, sleet, and snow, but thankfully, the majority of the time, it has been a beautiful spring day at the Springs. The original tournament was for the benefit of the utility contractors. Three years ago, due to changes in our business platform, we began running the tournament for the benefit of the Wayne County YMCA. The YMCA is building a new facility just outside of Honesdale, which will serve all of Wayne County and parts of Pike in the future. Funding for that project is being handled through public and private donations. We expect to break ground in the spring, with an approximate build time of 18 months. The funds generated from this event are not for the construction of the YMCA but for expanding and training the staff necessary to operate the new facility. After all the years at their present location, we will need greatly enhanced staff for the new facility. This will be used for the training and acquisition of the personnel needed to operate it. As we saw in May, the weather held us back from hosting our tournament in the Spring, I invite you to join us for the rescheduled tournament on Monday, September 22nd. We greatly appreciate the many sponsors and supporters of the tournament, including those who supported the May tournament, and we are looking forward to including all of you in the September tournament. After running the tournament for 34 years, there has been a lot of help. We are turning over the operation to area coordinators Eric Odell and Collin Ennis. They have admitted golfers and enjoyed the tournament for many years and have helped immensely. We will obviously be monitoring and advising, and we fully expect to have another great year.
